3 Years Ago Today...

April 15th is well known as " income tax day" to most across this country, but today has a very different meaning for my family. Three years ago today, our son was placed into our arms forever. The setting wasn't a hospital or birth center--it was the lobby of the Marriott Hotel in Guatemala City, Guatemala. I can still remember the day like it was yesterday. My husband and I paced back and forth waiting for our son to arrive. Finally, he arrived with his foster mother and we were overcome with emotion. After being provided with a few details about his feeding schedule, we were left alone with our 4.5 month old son. In that moment, we became parents and life has never been the same. We spent the next five days getting to know our son, obtaining his passport and exploring Guatemala City before returning home to the United States. My dream of motherhood that once seemed out of reach had finally come true! I truly believe that Aiden was hand-picked for our family. Not a week goes by that I don't think of Aiden's birth mother and the difficult decision she made to place him for adoption. It is my hope that someday we will be able to meet her and express our gratitude. I LOVE YOU, Aiden!

This is a beautiful post to your beautiful son. He is precious and he has two wonderful parents to guide him through this world. You are an amazing mommy and you both are blessed to have each other. Today is a beautiful day and I will no longer look at it as only Tax Day.
