And we're off...

We're leaving this morning for a family vacation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Joining us will be my parents, my sister and her friend. Since my sister lives in North Carolina, we'll stop there and spend the night. Then, tomorrow morning we'll all head to Myrtle Beach together.

I cannot tell you how much we're all looking forward to this trip. My son can't stop talking about his plans to build sand castles, search for sand crabs and swim in the pool. We will be returning home on Saturday, August 8th. I'm bringing my laptop with me so be sure and check back for deals and pictures.

Food Lion: Good Deal on 93/7 Lean Ground Beef and How I Freeze Meat

Meat is one of the most expensive parts of my grocery bill. I've been stocking up on meat when it's on sale and freezing extra for use at a later date. Regular price for 93/7 Lean Ground Beef is approximately $3.50-$3.99 per pound. My local Food Lion has value packs (3-4 lbs) on sale for $1.99 per lb. Yesterday, I purchased a package of 3.64 lbs for $7.34 and divided it into three packages. Next, I vaccuum sealed each package to remove the moisture.

Then, I labeled each of the bags with a description of the contents and the date. The bags were placed into the freezer for use in the near future. Above photo was taken after ground beef was completely frozen. Do you purchase extra meat when it's on sale? If so, how do you package it for freezing? If you'd like to print the Martha Stewart freezer labels I used, go to my previous post HERE.
