Pasta Salad Recipe
Once the weather starts warming up, we eat Pasta Salad almost every week. I came up with this simple recipe many years ago and have been making it ever since. I love making a large bowl and having it for lunch or as a side dish with dinner. I'm also known to eat it for breakfast. :) It's also great to take to a picnic or barbecue. The best thing about making this pasta salad: it only takes about fifteen minutes from start to finish. It is also inexpensive to make if you purchase the ingredients when on sale or free.
Ingredients:
1 bag or box of noodles
Kraft Zesty Italian Salad Dressing
Fresh Veggies of your choice
Directions:
Cook noodles as directed on package. I used a package of Wacky Mac noodles because they were free after coupon at my local grocery store.
While the noodles are cooking, cut up fresh veggies. Today, I used tomatoes, cucumber and green pepper. I've also used the following ingredients in the past: fresh broccoli, onion, squash, and zucchini. You could also add pepperoni to spice it up a bit.

Drain the noodles.
Combine noodles, veggies and zesty italian dressing. I use about 8 ozs. (half of the bottle pictured below) of salad dressing. You may want to add more--depending on how many vegetables and noodles you use. For best results, I refrigerate it for the day or overnight so the flavor is absorbed into the vegetables and noodles.I made this entire bowl of pasta salad for approximately $2.51. Here is a breakdown of the cost:
Wacky Mac Noodles: FREE after coupon
Kraft Salad Dressing: .05 cents (half of a 16 oz. bottle discussed HERE)
1 cucumber: .99 cents
1 tomato: .72 cents
1/2 green pepper: .75 cents

I purchased six packets of various flavors and used three $1.00/2 coupons from the Cinco de Mayo booklet. My total was .36 cents for SIX packets of seasoning--just .06 cents each plus tax. The best part is that I received a $3.00 catalina coupon good off my next meat or chicken purchase. I received this coupon for purchasing six Old El Paso products. These seasoning packets netted me a profit of $2.64. I'm all out of Old El Paso coupons. :( If any readers have Old El Paso coupons available for trade, please let me know.
Martin's: Daisy Sour Cream for .09 cents
The 8 oz. container of Daisy Sour Cream is $1.29 (regular price) at Martin's. I made a Chocolate-Strawberry Torte dessert that uses 8 ozs. of sour cream, so I'll be stocking up on quiet a few containers.

Herb Gardening
This has been a very busy week for me! The weather was warm and I've been busy spending time outside. I purchased three different herbs (Basil, Dill and Cilantro) at the local Farmer's Market and planted them in a window box and placed them in my kitchen window. Once the weather stays warm, I will move the box outside and hang it from my back deck. This is my first time growing herbs so I'm excited and hope they survive. Wish me luck!
Is anyone else planting herbs? If so, what are you planting?

Taco Dip Recipe
I just finished making Taco Dip for a party I'm attending this evening and decided to share the recipe with my readers.
Ingredients:
2 bars of Cream Cheese
1 jar (16 ozs.) of Mild Taco Sauce
Tomato
Shredded Lettuce
Shredded Cheese
Spread the mixture into a 9 x 13 dish.
Top with shredded lettuce, mild cheddar cheese and tomatoes. Refrigerate until time to serve. In the past, I've also added green peppers, onions and other toppings depending on where I'm taking the dish. My family prefers it with just lettuce, tomato and cheese. Also, to spice it up a bit you can use medium or hot taco sauce. I've been making this recipe for years and I almost always bring the dish home empty. Enjoy! :)
I'm linking this post to Tasty Tuesday at Balancing Beauty and Bedlem.

Martin's: Organic Blue Corn Tortilla Chips $1.33 per bag
I'm especially excited about this deal! I also purchased three bags of Nature's Promise Blue Corn Tortilla Chips. They are on sale this week for $1.99 per bag (a pretty good deal even without this promotion). 3 bags x .1.99 per bag = $5.97. After the $2.00 instant savings was deducted, the total was 3.97 cents for THREE bags--approximately 1.33 cents per bag. I love using these chips for my taco dip, but rarely purchase them because of the cost. I take taco dip to almost every function I'm invited to, so this was an excellent deal for me.
Reminder: It is NOT necessary to do separate transactions for the instant savings to be deducted. As long as you purchase participating products in multiples of three, then it will work. I purchased everything I'm about to post in one transaction, but am separating it out on my blog so it will be easier for my readers to understand. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help.
Martin's: Organic Black Beans .33 cents per can

Do you have any other uses for black beans? If so, please share.
